But what if I was uber honest and shared that the people at the Crete residency got on my nerves?
What if a lot of my photos were an escape from the loud-mouthed egos blabbering about how wonderful they were? That certainly wasn't what I intended when I went there, but the introvert in me, versus the more outgoing social butterfly, that some people are lucky enough to see.
At the France residency, I felt more understood, while making the most of an actually boring place. Don't get me wrong, I love France!! And I had a wonderful time. But this place was in the middle of nowhere! Just out of reach of a lot of places I really would like to see, and not close enough to get there without renting a car, which I wasn't about to do... On the plus side, I did end up riding a bike for the first time in a long time, and going to a local swimming pool. I rode 3+ miles each way. The people at that residency were really great, and from surprisingly impressive backgrounds too. Not to say I wouldn't have expected that, I just didn't know what to expect, because there wasn't a lot of info about this place on the website, but just enough for me to know it was a place I wanted to go..
